Illicit brewer arrested

Mahiyangana Police, on a tip-off, took into custody a man with an illicit brew mixture in his possession in Dambana, recently.

The Police believe that the suspect was distilling illicit liquor to sell during the festive season.

The suspect was identified as a father of two small children.

He was to be produced before the Mahiyangana Magistrate’s Court.

‘Policemen in civvies raided this production den at the 90th-kilometre post off the Dambana junction,’ a Police Officer said.
