An 11-year-old girl had died when the motorcycle she was riding on with her father, had collided with a van on the Horana - Kottawa main road on Monday morning.
The van, plying from Horana to Kottawa at the time, had collided with a lorry as it took a turn from a byroad to the main road.
The motorcycle, as well as a three-wheeler, had subsequently collided with the van.
The girl and her father had been admitted to the Homagama Hospital, however, the girl had succumbed to her injuries minutes later. She was identified as Sakuni Sathsaranee, a resident of Kulasevena Road, Kottawa.
A postmortem was to be carried out by the Homagama Hospital Coroner. Police are investigating.
