Former Senior DIG Premadasa Udugampola dies

Former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, Premadasa Udugampola passed away at the age of 83 following a brief illness. He joined the Police Department at the age of 18 as a Sub Inspector.

Udugampola had an illustrious career in the Police Department for nearly 40 years and served as the DIG of North Central, Southern and Central Provinces.

He was the Jaffna SP during the height of the LTTE terrorist period and also served as the Southern DIG during the ’89 JVP insurgency.

He is a distinguished old boy of Mahinda College, Galle and a father of two sons and two daughters.

His remains lie at his residence in Gampaha, Udugampola Pahalegama. Funeral arrangements will be notified later.
