Health Minister engage in religious activities before commencing work for 2019

The number of drugs available at reduced prices will be increased up to 100 from 73 in this year, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.
Addressing Health Ministry employees after commencing work for the new year Minister Senaratne said that high prices of 73 drugs slashed during the last years and this number will be increased up to 100 in this year. Regulating the high prices charged from patients by private hospitals will be done in this year.
Around 75 percent of Sri Lankan people die from Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and therefore more money need to be allocated to curb NCDs. Daily only four spoons of sugar required for a human being but sweetened drinks provided a lot more than that, he said.
The price of a heart stent has been reduced to Rs.105,000 from 350,000, he added. Health Deputy Minister Fizal Kassim and officials were present.
