Former Sooriyawewa Police OIC was reportedly attacked by the father and brother of his former mistress while attempting to meet the latter in Sooriyawewa.
According to the police, the former OIC had started an affair with the woman when he was the OIC. However, during that time, the woman’s husband had died after being shot by an unidentified gunman.
After some time, the former OIC had broken up with his mistress and started another affair with a woman residing in Sooriyawewa. According to the police, he had robbed Rs. 3.1 million from her bank account by breach of trust.
He had been attacked by his former mistress' father and brother after an argument when he had come to their house.
The former OIC was attacked with a sharp object by the brother and father.
The suspects were arrested by Sooriyawewa Police. The suspects were given personnel bail worth Rs. 100,000 each after being produced before the Hambantota Magistrate’s Court.
The former OIC was admitted to the Hambantota Government Base Hospital.
Investigations are continuing.
