Youth arrested over mobile phone theft

An SSP in Kurunegala had recently apprehended a youth who had attempted to flee on seeing the jeep he was travelling in. He had intercepted the youth and, after inspecting his bag, found three mobile phones in it.

Following interrogations, the suspect confessed to stealing them from workers at a nearby construction site. The phones were worth Rs.53,000.

It was later revealed that the suspect had stolen gold jewellery from his neighbours on previous occasions as well. He is to be produced at the Kurunegala Magistrate's Court, today.
