Indian students on Lankan tour

Ten students of St. Mark’s Senior Secondary School in New Delhi, India visited the Sri Lankan High Commission prior to the commencement of their student exchange programme in Sri Lanka, recently.

The St. Mark’s School student group is expected to visit Siridhamma College in Galle from January 1 to 7. Their itinerary includes visits to Richmond College and famous tourist attractions in Galle.

The students’ visit is funded by the India-Sri Lanka Foundation, New Delhi Secretariat, under its Student Exchange Programme. The team led by Geeta Rajan, Head of International Affairs of the school and two teachers Saranpreet Kaur and Naveen Gupta, met Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India and Co-Chairperson of the India-Sri Lanka Foundation Austin Fernando. He briefed the students on the history, culture, and lifestyle of the people of Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner said mutual school visits of the two countries would contribute to enhancing people to people relations and strengthening social interactions among the younger generation.

The students were provided with information on Sri Lanka through a video presentation and interactions with other officials of the Mission.
