President to vest Laggala Green Town in people on Jan. 8

The Laggala Green Town will be vested in the public by President Maithripala Sirisena on January 8, Kalu Ganga Project Director Engineer D.B. Wijeratne yesterday said.

He was speaking at a press conference at the Moragahakanda Reservoir premises recently.

The construction of the Laggala Green Town is now nearly complete, he said.

The old Laggala town will be relocated as the Kaluganga reservoir submerged it. The new Laggala town lies in a safer, more convenient place with more facilities, he said..

The government has constructed 23 public institutions in the new town. Construction of many of these institutions was completed and the rest is nearing completion, he said.

The Divisional Secretariat Office, Pradeshiya Shaba building, hospital, bus station, police station, school, health services centre, teacher training centre, post office, public fair, public playground, veterinary office, Govi Jana Mandiraga and many other state institutions will be commissioned by the President on January 8, he said.
