MIHIN PAID FOR MY CAR SAYS MR’s ASTROLOGER

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s astrologer Sumanadasa Abeygunawardene revealed that he was given a vehicle worth Rs. 8.2 million from LOLC which was paid for by Mihin Lanka.

He made this revelation during cross examination at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) on irregularities at SriLankan Airlines, SriLankan Catering and Mihin Lanka yesterday.

He told counsels that he received a call from Neville Wanniarachchi, former Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Rajapaksa to collect a car from Rajagiriya LOLC in August 2007 which was later paid for by Mihin Lanka.

He told counsels that he went and collected a Nissan N16 from the LOLC where there were 26 cars imported by LOLC on behalf of Mihin Lanka. Mihin Lanka had paid Rs. 8.2 million including interest on the vehicle, he told the Commission. He had only received the keys and no other documents had been provided.

He said he returned the vehicle after January 2015 when the former president was defeated. He handed the vehicle to the LOLC branch in Galle thereafter. He made these statements during cross examination which was conducted by the State Counsel Chathura Gunathilake under the supervision of Additional Solicitor General, Neil Unamboowe PC.
