Controversial whisleblower Namal Kumara has been barred from making statements by Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayaka.
The order was given by the Magistrate on a request made by senior CID officials. It was said that statements made from time to time by the Anti-Corruption Operations Director Namal Kumara is becoming a hindrance to inquiries conducted by the CID.The Magistrate also ordered all media chiefs to hand over all visuals and statements made by Namal Kumara from time to time.
Magistrate Dissanayaka refused another request which made by the CID to release the two LMG firearms to the Field Force Headquarters taken into custody while in the possession of former TID DIG Nalaka De Silva. The Magistrate said the the two weapons should not be released to the Police Field Force Headquarters again ordered they be kept in the same place where it is now being kept.
The CID was told to continue investigations and report to courts on January 16, 2019.
