Vinod Weerasinghe and Taniya Balasuriya emerged boys and girls champions at the Prima sponsored Sri Lanka junior open golf championship concluded at the Royal Colombo Golf Club yesterday. In fact both Vinod and Tanya won the titles for the third time.
Vinod the boys winner with 220 points excelled in this event while Tanya obtained 217 points to win the title while Kayla Perera 234 and Sherin Balasuriya 249 won first and second runner up places.
Haroon Aslam 238 and S Duwarshan 247 won the second and third places respectively in the boys gold division but Vinod was well ahead in this event with superb performances.
C.Dharanian and Shanal Binushka won the copper and bronze division while Nirekh Tejwani won the silver division . Ceylon Agro Industries the Prima Group sponsored this Junior Golf championship for the 12th consecutive year and its General Manger Shun Tien Shing was the chief guest while Sajith Gunaratna Deputy General Manager Ceylon Agro Industries and President of the Golf Union Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama also graced the occasion and gave away the awards.
