Fake Vaalampuries: Businessman granted bail

A businessman who had cheated several people with fake Vaalampuries was arrested by a team of Police officers attached to the Special Crime Investigation Unit of the Mirihana Police Station yesterday.He was later granted bail.

According to the Police Media Spokesperson’s office, the businessman is alleged to be the owner of the “Namo Naarayana Center “ in Pitakotte.

The arrest was made by a team of Police officers after a complaint which lodged by one of his clients after the client was cheated by the suspect businessman by giving him a fake Vaalampurie. It was also learnt that the suspect businessman had sold the fake Vaalampurie to his client for Rs.400,000.

However, after purchasing the Vaalampurie, the said client had gone to the Institute of Water Resources and Investigating Agency to check the quality of the said Vaalampurie.

After inspection, it was revealed that the Vaalampurie was a fake. However, the suspect was granted bail after he was produced before Ganggodawila Chief Magistrate’s Courts yesterday.

The case will be heard again on June 10,2019. Further investigations are being conducted OIC Of the Mirihana Police Special Crime Investigation Unit.
