Pheromone Trap to control Sena caterpillar

The Department of Agriculture has taken measures to introduce a Pheromone Trap to control Sena caterpillar (fall army-warm) infestation.

According to the Agriculture Department sources, the filed researches conducted by the Department on the effectiveness of the installation of pheromone traps have already shown successful results and according to the results a trap could be able to trap around 15-30 moths per a night. Only 3-4 traps are enough for one acre land.

The pheromone traps mostly target male moths because they are the ones responsible for reproduction through mating the female ones to produce larvae. So the traps will reduce the male population and also affect the reproduction of Fall Army Worm.

Pheromone is a chemical secreted by an animal that influences the behavior or physiology of others of the same species by attracting members of the opposite sex and that chemical should be applied in these traps in every two weeks.
