NHRDC conducts Career Fair program in Kurunegala District

National Human Resource Development Council of Sri Lanka (NHRDC) is organized its fifth Career Motivation and Career Fair programme with hundreds of school leavers and job seekers in attendance Co-operative hall was a great success.

This event conducted in collaboration with Department of Manpower and Employment, TVEC, EFC and District Secretariat.

It was a one day event being held recently at Co-operative Auditorium, Kurunegala District. This programme organized with career motivation and job fair. Career motivation session arranged with gust speeches and panel discussion with the support of companies’ representatives to express the current and future skills requirement in the job market and the career path of their companies.

This event focuses on facilitate job seekers to find work according to their professionalism, skills, talents and interests, helping the company to get qualified workforce, professional as per company requirement etc.

Gamini Ilangarathne, District Secretariat Kurunegala said, “The programs specially organized to provide school leavers and youth with an opportunity to interact with state and private sector organizations with the objective of developing required skills, personality, qualities and getting employment opportunities and to establish entrepreneurial ventures.”

The job fair programmes were already successfully conducted in Mathale, Moneragala, Galle, Puttalam, Jaffna. In total, it’s about 600 participants were recruited by the companies and over 750 participants were registered for the certificate courses at training institutions. This event involved about 430 participants and 14 companies, namely retail companies, provider companies, property, banking & insurance, textiles, transportation, tourism & hospitality, and also about 10 training institutions from TVEC and private training institutions. From NHRDC Dr. K.A. Lalithadeera, Director, S. Thanigaseelan, Assistant Director, T. Senthilnaathan, and Navoda Edirisinge, (RO) and from TVET, Manjula Withanapaththirana, Director participated at this event.
