Australians Corey Hunter and Baxter Holt hit half centuries and Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Rohan Sanjaya took five wickets for 94 runs to grab the honours on the first day of the one-off unofficial under 19 youth test at the SSC grounds yesterday.

Australia batting first closed their first innings at 269/9 and by the close Sri Lanka with 20 without loss facing five overs.

Hunter fell for 71 after meticulously crafting his innings for 134 balls hitting 9 fours and 1 six.

Skipper Holt scored 60 off 104 balls with seven fours before being dismissed by Sadun Mendis. Apart from these two the rest of the batsmen struggled against Sanjaya’s spin to collapse from 235-5 to 269-9.

The match continues today on its second day.
