Fisheries and Aquatic Resources State Minister Dilip Vedarachchi said although the Mahinda Rajapaksa group demands a General Election, they are unaware that it is only after four and a half years of a regime’s completion that a General Election could be held.
He was addressing a meeting of the fishing community convened to distribute housing loans at Lunugamwehera and Tissamaharama at Tangalle, recently. “As UNPers, we are not afraid of elections at any time because we have served the masses to their satisfaction during our tenure. We are prepared to face any election,” he said.
He added that their candidate for the forthcoming Presidential Election would most probably be Sajith Premadasa.
He said the Pohottuwa party is preoccupied with blaming the government on baseless grounds citing the division of the country.
