Police yesterday succeeded in arresting three suspected abductors of a businessman from Ahangama. The motor car in which the businessman was being abducted was also apprehended by police yesterday evening.
Officials of the police post at the Imaduwa Entry of the Southern Expressway arrested the suspects on a tip off while they were abducting the businessman.
The arrest was made when the suspects were entering through the Imaduwa entry to travel towards Colombo.Officials at the police post who checked the vehicle found that the businessman was being taken away by the captors.Police detained the suspects together with the vehicle and released the businessman.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects are residents of Hanwella and the reason for the abduction had not been established. The suspects have been handed over to Ahangama Police and investigations are conducted under the supervision of Imaduwa Police OIC.
