Case against CDS: further inquiries fixed for April 3

Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage fixed further inquiries into the case filed against Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Ravindra Wijegunaratne for April 3.

This is in connection with allegations of harbouring former Navy Lieutenant Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi and abetting in the abduction and forced disappearance of 11 youths in Colombo.

The CID informed court that they are still conducting a special investigation into the phone call records.

The CID revealed that Wijegunarathne used an official room on the 7th Floor of the Navy Headquarters. CDS Wijegunaratne is currently out of bail.

Meanwhile, Colombo Crime Division officials informed the court that the investigation with regards to the alleged threats by Admiral Wijegunaratne to the main witness in the case: Laksiri Amarasinghe is still ongoing.

The Magistrate ordered the CID to expedite the investigations and fixed further inquiries for April 4.
