The National-level Thiyaga Theepam awards ceremony, organised by the Sri Lanka Democratic Teachers’ Union (SLDTU), was held at the Sammanthurai Tharussalam Maha Vidyalaya auditorium, recently.
Sri Lanka Democratic Teachers’ Union National Leader A.B. Kamaldeen chaired the event, at which 45 educationists, social activists and journalists received awards.
Vavuniya District Secretary I.M. Haniffa was the chief guest, while Eastern Province Education Ministry Secretary I.K.G. Muthubanda as the guest of honour.
Sammanthurai Divisional Secretary S.L.M. Haniffa, Sammanthurai Zonal Education Director S.M.S. Najeem, Kalmunai Zonal Education Director M.S. Abdul Jaleel, Thirukkovil Zonal Education Director A. Jyachandren and Batticaloa District Motor Traffic Examiner A.L.M. Farook participated in the event.
