Cocaine trafficker sentenced to death

A man was sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court yesterday when he was found guilty for having and peddling 62.06 grams of cocaine in 2012.

The second accused, Nalin Charuka, had been arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau in 2012.

The first accused was released and acquitted from the case since evidence was not proved against him. The Attorney General (AG) had indicted the accused under the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs (Amendment) Act.
