Senura Silva of Ananda College Colombo and Bimandi Bandara of Hilwood College Kandy were adjudged the best players of the Kanaka Herath Challenge Trophy All Island Open Table Tennis Tournament which concluded at the Kegalu Balika Indoor Stadium at Kegalle last Sunday .
Senura Silva the elder son of former National champions Deepika Rodrigo and Indika Prasad won the under 15 and under 18 boys singles while Bimandi won the girls under 15 and open womens singles events . Bimandi the promising paddler created a major upset by defeating National champion Ishara Madurangi in the womens open final in three straight sets 11/8/ 11/7, 11/7. Meanwhile Chameera Ginige won the mens open title defeating Imantha Udanjaya.
Kanaka Herath President of the Kegalle District TTA was the chief guest and gave away the awards while Chathura Jayendra, Manager Richard Peiris Finance/Acting President, Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka, Kasun Udara Vithana, Secretary , Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka ,Former President of TTASL,. Chandana Perera, were among the special guests on this occasion
