Forces return 7,194.86 acres of Vanni lands

State and private lands in extent of 7,194.86 acres in the Vanni Security Forces Zone that were taken over by the Army, have now been released to state and other private owners, a Vanni Security Forces camp spokesman said.

He said so at a programme held under the supervision of Vanni Security Forces Commander Major General Kumudu Perera, to handover 16 acres of land in the Mannar district to Mannar District Secretary C.A. Mohanraj, recently.

The 7,194.86 acres of land in the Vanni Security Forces Zone handed back so far included 839.73 acres of state lands and 50.51 acres of civilian lands in Mannar, as well as 6218.74 acres of state lands and 85.88 acres of private lands in the Vavuniya district.

The spokesman added that all lands used by the Vanni zone have been handed back to state and private owners, except the lands occupied by the Security Forces in Vanni.
