Senior Professor HHDNP Opatha attached to the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura launched his new book titled Sustainable Human Resource Management at the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of USJ. He presented the book to Venerable Professor Vijithadhamma Thera who is the current Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Venerable Dr Yasassi Thera, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sampath Amaratunge, Faculty Dean Dr Aruna Kumara, Professional Associations of Sri Lanka President-elect Dr Lalith Wijethunga, Management Postgraduate Institute Director Professor Ajantha Darmasiri and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Chairperson Dammika Fernando and relevant academics from the University of Peradeniya, University of Colombo, Kelaniya, University of Sabaragamuwa, Eastern University, Open University, Uva Wellassa University, University of Ruhuna and University of Jaffna participated in the ceremony in addition to relevant industry professionals.
This book is on Sustainable Human Resource Management, which will be one of the most important subjects in the education of Management of Organizations in the future and goals of the organization will have to be expanded to address current challenges which are being faced by HR Managers and other managers in contemporary organizations which are increasingly expected to serve not only owners and other direct stakeholders (customers, employees, and suppliers) but also society and environment. In the modern world, every organization and every manager must be concerned with making significant and positive contributions to the environmental, social, and economic performance of the organization. “Sustainability is the most important issue that you and I have to deal with now and will have to deal with in the future too from the point of Management.
