Ambiente exhibition attracts Lankan companies

The annual Ambiente exhibition the largest international consumer goods trade fair of all times, began at Messe Frankfurt conclude on Sunday.

The event attracted five Sri Lanka companies and several buyers of leading department stores like Odel. The five companies are, Dankotuwa Porcelain who has been participating for the past 30 years, AMP Ceylon, Art Decoration, Gospel House and Handicrafts and Selyn Exporters. They will exhibit with the products covering interior decoration items, handicrafts, kitchen accessories and other consumer products.

Occupying an exhibition space of 308,000 square meters the event attracted a record number of 4,441 exhibitors from 89 countries last year. The proportion of senior international decision-makers across all trade sectors had gone up by six per cent compared with last year, making up 60 per cent of visitors. It was the highest share ever recorded.

In total, 134,600 buyers from 168 countries visited Frankfurt to attend Ambiente.

“Consumerism is fashionable! Ambiente hosts the entire world. Every February, the international consumer goods industry receives direction here for the entire year. This is impressively borne out by the number of orders and the quality of German and international buyers,” says Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt GmbH.

India has been made the host country and Kanika Kapoor, singer and member of the Voice India jury, attended Ambiente 2019 along with several government officials from India.

The event is organized by Messe Frankfurt, the world’s biggest trade fair, convention and event organiser with its own premises. It employs a workforce of 2,500 at 30 countries and generates an annual revenue of around EUR 715 Million.
