Cabinet approval for NFTH to operate as Colombo East Teaching Hospital

Cabinet approval has been granted to continue the operations of the Dr Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital (NFTH) as the Colombo East Teaching Hospital. Accordingly, it will operate in parallel with the Colombo East Base Hospital (Mulleriyawa Hospital).

Approval was granted based on a proposal made by subject Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.

The proposal was to continue the activities of Dr Neville Fernando Hospital as a line Hospital of the government like the Sri Jayewardenepura General hospital. Following the decision, the Dr. Neville Fernando Hospital is expected to serve the needs of a large population in Kaduwela and Malabe in Colombo East.
