Thousand community water projects island-wide

The government has planned to launch 1,000 community water supply schemes island-wide under the National Water Supply Department, according to a concept of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The inaugural ceremony in this regard will be held at Naula Opalgala village in Matale today.

Ministers and other parliamentarians of the district will participate.

Under this programme, 23 water projects are to be initiated in the district at the cost of Rs.23 million, District Unit Officer H. G. Wijesingha said.

The National Community Water Supply Department is monitoring this programme.
