Wijeyadasa frowns at Bribery Commission

Former Higher Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe said he was willing to take the Bribery Commission to task if it fails to investigate his complaints where he alleges that widespread corruption had taken place during the last few years.

He was addressing a press briefing recently.

“I have submitted a written complaint to the commission to investigate bribery and corruption. I have stipulated that I would like to hear back within the next two months. If the commission takes no action, I am willing to take them to courts,” he said.

Rajapakshe said he has filed several complaints over allegations of widespread corruption in many welfare schemes implemented in the country including the Mahapola Scholarship Awarding Scheme for university students, Suraksha Insurance Scheme for schoolchildren and the corruption over uniform vouchers.
