Measures to streamline A/L Mass Communication subject

The Education Ministry is taking measures to rectify the issues relating to the revised Advance Level Mass Media and Communication subject.

Certain teachers, who teach the Mass Media and Communication subject and some teachers’ unions opposed to the new syllabus introduced for the Mass Media and Communication subject by the Education Ministry.

Considering those agitations the Ministry held an all-party discussion on last Thursday aiming to identify the issues of the Mass Media and Communication syllabus and to address them.

At the discussion it has been focused attention on practical difficulties when teaching the subject at schools. It was revealed that teachers are undergoing hardships as the teacher guidance has not been issued by the Education Publications Department. Then it was decided to issue teacher guidance before April 21st. Besides, step will be taken to issue model question papers, which have been sent to the Examinations Department o schools.

Moreover all the teachers, who have not been trained to teach the new syllabus so far will receive a training promptly.
