The National Cadet Corps has taken initiatives to promote 33 officers in the rank of Lt. Colonel to the rank of Colonel - the senior most rank NCC officers could claim for.

A felicitation ceremony was conducted in this regard at the Officers’ Mess under the patronage of Major General M. M. S. Perera, Director National Cadet Corps, recently.

This is the first time such a large number of officers were promoted and added to the NCC cadre. Most of the officers promoted would be attached to the Armed Services and National Cadet Corps as mobilized officers while the rest would function in the education field.

Director NCC congratulated the newly promoted officers and said “monetary value does not matter but recognition, expectation and responsibility heighten with the promotions.”

He requested them work with utmost dedication while maintaining traditions and customs of the organization. Deputy Director, Provincial Deputy Directors and senior officers also attended.
