‘Sayurala’ arrives in Colombo on completion of Pakistan tour

Naval Ship ‘Sayurala’ which left for Pakistan from the Colombo harbour on February 2 to participate in the Naval Exercise AMAN 2019, the biennial exercise hosted by the Pakistan Navy, arrived on Thursday 28. On arrival, she was welcomed in compliance with naval traditions.

AMAN 2019 was held in Karachi, Pakistan from February 8 to 14. The exercise promotes cooperation and inter operability between the regional navies through training and cooperation in the maritime region.This exercise promotes greater level of military cooperation and understanding among navies and enhances the security and surveillance of the maritime zone.

Navies of 44 countries including Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Nigeria, Philippines, Qatar and Russia with a large number of ships and air craft participated in AMAN 2019.

After completion of the naval exercise AMAN-2019, SLNS ‘Sayurala’ participated in the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX)-2019 which commenced in Abu Dhabi on February 17.
