Japan to provide Rs. 20 bn for health sector

The Japanese government will provide Rs. 20 billion for the health sector in Sri Lanka, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

Japanese Ambassador Akira Sugiyama had promised to provide the funds during a recent meeting with Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.

The funds will be provided through the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA). The Japanese government will provide Sri Lanka an operating theatre with modern technology before 2020, he said.

The Japanese Ambassador assured continued support of the health sector in Sri Lanka.
