Cop accepting Rs 10,000 in bribery net

Bribery sleuths yesterday arrested a Police constable attached to the Moronthuduwa Police station while accepting Rs.10,000 from a suspect at the Panadura courts premises.

Moronthuduwa police arrested a group of persons who were allegedly involved in filling a paddy field based on a complaint by a agrarian officer in the area.The police also took a vehicle and equipment into custody.

The suspects who were arrested have been released on bail and the Police Constable in question had demanded Rs.10,000 from the suspect to get the vehicle released from court custody.

The PC was arrested while accepting Rs.10,000 yesterday evening.
