Mrityudand screened to celebrate Women’s Day

To celebrate the International Women’s Day, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Colombo, will by screening the award-winning Hindi film Mrityudand at SVCC auditorium on March 8 at 3 pm.

Mirtyudand is written, directed and produced by Prakash Jha and starring Madhuri Dixit, Shabana Azmi and Om Puri in lead roles. The film is a commentary on social and gender injustice. As in his other movies, filmmaker Prakash Jha has focussed on the social problems and the movie straddles the boundary between art film and commercial film. The film has bagged Best Director for Prakash Jha, Zee Cine Awards (1998), Special Jury Award, Best Feature Film, Cinéma Tout Ecran, Geneva (1998) and many more.
