Buddhist temples in Mawenella to receive facelift

Seventy one Buddhist temples in the Mawanella Divisional Secretariat Division will be renovated at a cost of Rs.50 million under the patronage of Highways, Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development Minister Kabir Hashim. The project commenced on Saturday.

President Maithripala Sirisena on a concept of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe initiated the project.

Over 100 Buddhist monks participated in the inauguration ceremony, and they were accompanied to the ceremony in a procession from Mawanella.

The Minister presented the financial donation to the Maha Sangha during the ceremony. An almsgiving was also held for the Maha Sangha.
