The Galle Sub Unit of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) on a tip-off arrested two persons and a car with 1.65 kg of heroin from Kahawa, Akurala on Saturday.
The suspects, Bandula Mendis Gunasekara (68) and Sumedha Raj Ranasinghe (42), are residents of Ratgama and Uragasmanhandiya.
They were to be produced before the Balapitiya Magistrate yesterday (10).
According to the PNB sources, the first suspect had transported these drugs from his car and had been giving them to the second suspect when the police raided them.
The police have identified the suspects as heroin smugglers.
Further investigations are continuing, police said.
