SLIIT organizes series of workshops to mentor advanced level students

SLIIT hosted a series of interesting workshops across several main cities in the country recently designed to support Advanced Level (A/L) students who will be sitting for this significant education milestone.

Using the wealth of academic resources available at the Institute, students islandwide were provided the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and gain vital insights in several subject streams as well as interpersonal development.

Commenting on SLIIT workshops, Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor and CEO, SLIIT, remarked, “As an Institute with a wealth of top academicians, it is our duty to help these children prior to a major examination. Through these workshops we sought to mentor them not only in their subject streams but also to advice and support them in identifying and building on their future careers while still in school.”

Students were mentored in subject streams such as Information Systems, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Architecture, and Management, etc. With the objective of sharing new updates in the physics syllabus, SLIIT conducted a seminar in Kandy for over 2500 A/L students in the Biology and Mathematics.

Knowledge on psychology, cyber security, artificial intelligence, social media and Internet of Things was also imported during subsequent workshops. SLIIT also organised several other sessions covering soft skills including time management, stress management, motivation and exam tips.

Uditha Gamage, Director Development and Engineering, SLIIT said, “As a recognised and respected Institute we have the capacity to support these students in their educational and professional development. Our workshops not only served to enhance their knowledge in important subjects but through our soft skills sessions these students were presented avenues to invent their future.”

Several other workshops sessions were held in schools including Dharmaraja College, Kandy, Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda, Southlands College, Galle, Sri Jayewardenepura Maha Vidyalaya, Mahinda College Galle and Visakha Vidyalaya with over 3,400 students participation.

Showcasing the importance of the role of women in society, SLIIT also conducted thought-provoking, interactive and fun-filled sessions for students on realising their dreams.
