The ninth General Convocation and Award Ceremony of the East Ceylon Arabic College in Addalaichenai was held at the College Auditorium recently.
The newly constructed building complex at the College premises which was funded by Kuwait, was also opened by the chief guest, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Sri Lanka Khalaf M. M. Bu Dhhair.
The ceremony was presided over by the Addalaichenai East Ceylon Arabic College Board of Management Chairman and South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL) Chancellor Prof. Achi M. Ishaq.
City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Minister and SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem, Eastern Province Governor Dr.M.L.A.M.Hisbullah and Parliamentarian A. L. M. Nazeer were also present.
Panadura Jamiah Ibnu Umar for Islamic Higher Studies Principal Ash –Sheik M.J.Abbdul Kalique (Deobandi) delivered the guest speech. Students performed islamic cultural events.
The College Principal, Board of Governance Deputy President A.L.Ibralebbe, Board of Management Secretary and Retired Principal U.M. Sakeethu, politicians, Board of Management members, department heads, Past Pupils’ Association members, lecturers, Board of Trustee members of Mosques, Principals of Arabic Colleges, Moulavies and Ulamas were present at the ceremony.
