Grama Shakthi begins in Batticaloa

The Grama Sakthi project was implemented at the Sathurukondan village in Batticaloa, in the presence of North Central Province Governor Sarath Ekanayake, recently.

Under this programme, 20 families were provided with Rs.1 million in funds to purchase equipment necessary for the handloom industry. Disabled residents were provided with wheelchairs and mattresses as well.

Furthermore, Rs.800,000 was also provided to fishermen to buy fishing nets. Those who are engaged in farming and horticulture were provided with Rs.1.5 million each.

Eastern Province Governor Dr. M.L.A.M. Hisbullah, Social Empowerment State Minister Alizaheer Moulana, as well as Batticaloa Parliamentarians S. Yogeswaran and S. Viyalendran were present at the event.
