Sri Lankan powerlifting team led by Asian record holder Ransilu Jayatilleka expected to take part in the Oceania Regional Powerlifting championships which commenced on March 11 in Gold Coast Australia.
Sri Lankan team comprised five men and five women based on their performances at the recently concluded Asian Powerlifting Championships in Mongolia in last December.
The events will be conducted in two categories, open and junior in this tournament and Sri Lankan team members will compete in both sections.
Skipper Ransilu Jayathilleka, Hiran Fernando, Pradeep Kumara, Marian de Silva, Randunu Geethika and Dilrukshi Kumari are expected to compete in the open category while Vikum Perera, Minoli Christian, Nuwendra Anthony and Kakolya Silva will compete in the junior events.
Mothilal Jayathilleka accompanied the Sri Lanka team as coach.
