Senura, Jithara Most Outstanding Players

Senura Silva of Ananda College Colombo and Jithara Warnakulasuriya of Ladies College Colombo were adjudged Most Outstanding Players of the Junior National Table Tennis Championships concluded at the Army Indoor Stadium Panagoda recently .

Senura defeated Chandupa Alahakoon of Kindswood College Kandy at the under 18 finals with 4-1 lead in their five setter game while Jithara beat Bimandee Bandara of Hilwood College Kandy with three straight sets to win the singles titles. In addition Jithara won the under 18 girls doubles with Mahamaya player Thanushi Rodrigo. Both Jithara and Senura played for the under 18 mixed doubles event and won the runner- up title .

In fact Senura who is the elder son of former National players Indika Prasad and Deepika Rodrigo really played well follow his parents footsteps. Indika Prasad was the 1991 junior National champion while his son Senura this year took the title with good performances.

Dharmashokian D.H Kolambage won the girls under 18 title defeating her schoolmate Sanduni Prabuddhika with three straight sets while Tamadi Kavindya of Sri Devananda Ambalangoda and Anandian Kakeru Hennayaka won the girls and boys under 10 finals respectively .

Sri Lanka Army Research and Development Deputy Director Brigadier D.RDharmasiri was the chief guest and gave away the awards. The tournament was conducted by the TTASL.
