Lankan Women up against WC champs England Women

Sri Lanka Women will be looking to give reigning World Cup champions England Women a competitive series when they meet in three ODIs and three T20Is.

“We are looking forward to give England a competitive series. We met in 2016 and since then our team has changed and is a blend of youth and experience,” said Sri Lanka Women skipper Chamari Atapattu at a media conference held at Hilton Colombo Residencies yesterday.

Rival captain Heather Knight of England who led the side to victory in the 2017 World Cup final against India speaking on the occasion said, “We are hoping to use as many players as we can to give everyone an opportunity to learn and gain experience.”

The two teams will commence the ODI series at Hambantota on March 16 but prior to that England Women will be involved in a one-day practice match at the P Sara Oval today.

Hasini Perera will captain the local team in the warm up game. The rest of the players are Anushka Sanjeewani, Harshitha Madavi, Imalka Mendis, Umesha Thimashani, Dilani Manodara, Madushika Meththananda, Sathya Sandeepani, Tharika Sewwandi, Lihini Apsara, Hansima Karunaratne, Reserve Players: Harshani Wijeratne, Jimanjali Wijenayaka.
