Pakistani national sentenced to life

Panadura Provincial High Court Judge Damith Thotawatte sentenced a Pakistani national to life imprisonment for possessing 90 grams and 36 milligrams of heroin and trafficking it in Panadura. The police took him into custody on June 13, 2013.

The judgement was delivered on March 5.

The second accused, Shanil Ahammed, another Pakistani national, was acquitted. The Judge stated that there is no evidence to prove the second accused guilty in the case.

The two accused were indicted by the Attorney General for possessing and trafficking 90 grams and 36 milligrams of heroin in Panadura.

They were arrested with the heroin by the Narcotics Division of the Excise Station while they were at the Panadura Railway Station.
