Man self immolates in front of Sirikotha

A 67 year old man set himself on fire opposite the UNP headquarters ‘Sirikotha’ last evening.

He was later admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital (Kalubowila).

Kalubowila hospital sources said the injured man is in a critical condition. Nimal Perera from Wanathamulla who is a retired employee of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) had set himself on fire opposite Sirikotha around 5.15 pm yesterday. He is the second person to set himself on fire in front of the UNP headquarters. Another person died in 2010.
