KANDY SPORTS ROUND UP :

39th Trinity-Antonian limited-over

The 39th limited over’s encounter between Trinity College and St. Anthony’s College will be played today at the Asgiriya Stadium. This much-awaited one day cricket encounter between the two schools is played for the Richard Aluwihare trophy. Of the 38 games played so far, Trinity has18 wins, St. Anthony’s 17 with 1 tie and 2 no results. The high riding Antonians after the good show in the big match will be hoping to produce a similar performance. But when it comes to one day cricket, it’s not predictable. The two captains Kavishka Senadeera (Trinity) and Theeksha Gunasinghe (St. Anthony’s) should remind their leading batsmen that the ball is meant to be hit in limited overs cricket. Last week’s big match that promised so much was cruelly ruined. So, this 39th encounter should see a good game of cricket. In today game Trinity’s regular skipper Pubudu Bandara will be out of action due to the injury and vice captain Kavishka Senadeera will lead the side. Trinity College 1st XI cricket team 2006 captain Charitha Dumbarage a coloursman will be the chief guest.
