The captain and Sri Lanka Under 19 player Nuwanidu Fernando set a record for the 69 year old Big Match series for St. Sebastians College when he took a hat-trick against Prince of Wales College at De Soysa Stadium Moratuwa.
His victims were Kavindu de Mel (3), Devaka Peiris (0) and Pasindu Pathum for no score and at the end of day one in reply to Cambrians total of 194 runs Sebs were 43 for 1.
Sebs skipper won the toss and invited Cambrians to take the first lease and his gamble paid off with three wickets falling for 50 runs and at this stage skipper Suwath Mendis joined Dinura Fernando and put on a valuable 78 runs for the fourth wicket and with the departure of Fernando for 44 runs the wickets tumbled at regular intervals and finally Naduka Fernando joined Mendis and brought the score to 194 runs with Skipper Mendis completing a well deserved 78 runs with five fours and the last pair added 40 runs and Fernando was unbeaten on 16 runs. Nuwanidu Fernando was the most successful bowler for Sebs with 4 for 24 runs.
