France bound group arrested and remanded in Puttalam

Eleven Sri Lankans including two children staying in Puttalam to leave for France were arrested by the Puttalam police on Monday (1). They were produced before the Puttalam District Judge and Magistrate Anura Indrajith Buddhadasa and remanded till today (3). The arrest was made following information that the group from the North was staying in Puttalam to proceed to Udappuwa and then board a trawler from there to emigrate to France illegally.

Police said the group included the two children aged 12 and 10 and their mother while the others are in the age of 26 to 40.Investigations are continuing directed by Puttalam SP J. A. Chandrasena.
