Neil Iddawela chief guest at Kurunegala Relay Carnival

Arrangements have been made to host a Relay Carnival today (April 6) at the Welagedera Stadium in Kurunegala for the third successive time among the schools. It was first initiated by Sir Henry Steel Olcott.

Students of Dharmaraja College, Kandy, Ananda College, Colombo, Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, Mahinda College, Galle, Musaeus and Visakha of Colombo and many other schools will compete in the Relay Carnival.

Last year’s event was organized by Dharmaraja College, Kandy. Maliyadeva College is hosting this year’s event. The chief guest for the occasion will be Neil Iddawela, Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General of Parliament who was one of the proud products of Maliyadeva. Before joining the Parliament Staff, Iddawela had been a District Judge for ten years.

Iddawela had established several records in Zonal, District, Provincial and national sports events as an athlete winning many awards and certificates for his school. He had won university colours for Athletics and Rugger at the Colombo University.
