Polythene polluting Yala Park

Certain visitors to the Yala National Sanctuary cause extensive damage to the Sanctuary by throwing garbage, plastic bottles, lunch sheets and polythene bags, the Park Warden said.

He said that when polythene is consumed by wild beasts they face an untimely death due to polythene not being digested by wild animals.

The Park Warden request visitors to the Yala National Park to abstain from throwing such things. Meanwhile, road blocks have been set up at the Yala National Sanctuary every three hundred meters, in order to control the speed of vehicles within the sanctuary.

The sources at the Yala National Sanctuary said that the email address and the web site of the Department of Wildlife are exhibited at the entrance to the Yala National Sanctuary, so that visitors could inform Wildlife officials of any illicit activity.
