Ussangoda Vally lacks tourist facilities

Local and foreign tourists who visit Ussangoda valley which is a tourist attraction face untold difficulties since this location lacks facilities required by the tourists. The valley sprawls over 460 acres and it was declared a national park in 2010.

The valley lies close to the Kalametiya bird sanctuary reputed for endemic and migratory birds.

The residents in the area said that some reckless visitors harm the natural beauty of the valley by removing rare ayurvedic herbs and other valuables. This location lacks a vehicle park. Plans were drawn up a decade ago to provide facilities to the local and foreign tourists, but it still remains a dream.
