Community Physicians’ walk held

The College of Community Physicians of Sri Lanka had their annual walk from the Dehiwala Municipal grounds to the Mount Park in Mount Lavinia last week.

The walk was conducted under different themes such as, ‘Be Active’, ‘Healthy Eating’, ‘No Alcohol: No Smoking’ ‘Be Happy’, ‘End AIDS by 2025, and ‘Prevent Dengue. Sustain Malaria Elimination’. The walk was opened by the Mayor of Dehiwala Mount Lavinia with the release of gas-filled pink balloons. The main objective of the walk was to educate the public on different health-related issues. A medical camp was conducted at the Mount Park. It included basic blood tests, dental screening and dietary guidance.

College President Dr. Janaki Vidanapathirana, past presidents and members of the College, representatives from the World Health Organisation, staff of the Medical Officer of Health offices of Ratmalana, Boralesgamuwa, Dehiwala, Moratuwa, Egodauyana and Maharagama participated.
